What to change

0038 is accepted, but it keeps an unresolved check: "Not yet checked against git versions: arguments that users pass through madtea git, -c config keys, and format placeholders" (L144-145). It also says "The git 2.38.0 CI run (issue 525) shows whether madtea is affected" (L142-143), and does not give the answer. Run the checks and state the results in the record, or state the worst case as the decided value.
0039 is proposed, but the code that it describes merged in commit 36676359. I decide its status.
